Pre-Competitive Teams
Level 1: These gymnasts practice
one day a week for 2.5 hours. They work on mastering basic
skills on all 4 events. This team also learns and perfects
the USAG Level 1 compulsory routines while working on skills
from the Level 2 routines. These gymnasts range in age from
4 to 12 years of age.
Level 2: This team practices one day a
week for 2.5 hours. They continue to perfect their basic
skills while learning intermediate skills on all events.
They also learn the USAG Level 2 compulsory routines and
skills from the Level 3 routines. These gymnasts range in
age from 4 to 12 years of age.
Level 3: These gymnasts practice
two days a week for a total of 5 hours per week. They continue
to work on their intermediate skills while learning more
advanced skills on all 4 events. They also learn the USAG
level 3 compulsory routines and skills from the Level 4
routines. These gymnasts range in age from 5 to 12 years
of age.
Competitive Teams
Level 4: Once you have passed
Levels 1 – 3 in the Team program you move onto Level
4. At this level, you are given the option to start competing
in gymnastics meets. This team practices 2 days a week for
a total of 5 hours per week. They work on mastering their
intermediate skills while learning more advanced skills
on all events. The USAG Level 4 compulsory routines are
perfected while they work on mastering skills from Level
5. They also start working on more and more advanced skills
on all 4 events that will help them to be ready to compete
for the High School Gymnastics Team. Gymnasts at this Level
range in age from 6 to 12 years of age.
Level 5: Once you have passed
into Level 5, you must start to compete to continuing moving
up through the USAG program. You can also choose at this
Level not to continue in the USAG program and work on skills
for High School Gymnastics. This team works on mastering
advanced skills as they work towards perfecting compulsory
routines. They practice 3 days a week for a total of 8.5
hours per week. They range in age from 7 to 12 years of
age.
Level 6: At this level, you
can again choose to continue in the USAG program or to work
only towards High School Gymnastics. They work on perfecting
and learning new advanced skills while mastering compulsory
routines. They practice 3 days a week for a total of 8.5
hours per week and range in age from 7 to 12 years of age.
Optionals: This team consists
of USAG levels 7 through 10. We currently have gymnasts
at Levels 7 and 8. At these levels, the gymnasts are done
with compulsory routines, which are routines that are the
same for each gymnast, and get to work on optional routines
that they get to make up. A coach or a choreographer helps
each gymnast in the creation of their routines. This team
practices 4 days a week for a total of 12 hours per week
and ranges in age from 7 to 12 years of age.
High School: The High
School Team is a part of the North Dakota Activities Association.
They compete at meets in the State of North Dakota for Wahpeton
High School. Surrounding schools, like Breckenridge, Hankinson,
Fairmount, etc also compete on this team. Their competition
season runs from mid-November through the end of February.
At this level the gymnasts range in skill level from intermediate
to very advanced. Gymnasts have the option of competing
in the USAG program during their off season. The gymnasts
range in age from 12 to 18 years old and practice 4 days
a week for a total of 12 hours per week.
