our Current schedule
The following information is intended
to provide parents and gymnasts with information relative
to practices and procedures at Three Rivers Gymnastics. If
you have any questions, please call Patty Moses at (701) 642-3620.
Personal Appearance
Gymnasts are expected to dress in appropriate attire. No baggy
clothing, no jewelry and hair needs to be pulled back out
of face during practice.
Personal Belongings
We have provided cubbies in the lobby for gymnasts
in the recreational classes to stow their personal belongings
during class. Please put shoes, coats, clothes, etc. in these
during class. The locker room is for team gymnasts
only. We ask that only gymnasts with assigned lockers use
the locker room.
Comments, Concerns, Praises
If you do not feel comfortable talking with your coach about
any concerns or praises, please use our comment box in the
lobby. The comment box is hanging beside the white board in
the lobby with comment cards beside it. We want to make sure
everything is going smoothly and without feedback from parents
and gymnasts that cannot happen. If we don’t know something
is going wrong, we cannot fix it. Also, coaches love to hear
when things are going well. We recognize our coaches for all
positive comments that are received.
Storm Policy
If weather conditions are such that gymnastics practice must
be cancelled, announcements to that effect will be broadcast
on 1450AM, 106.9FM, ABC, NBC and CBS. The coaches will also
notify the team callers who in turn will notify all the gymnasts
on their team. If you have questions if practice is still
on, please call your team caller or the gym.
Attendance
Attendance is expected of all gymnasts and is required of
those gymnasts competing and performing. A gymnast, who is
competing/performing in a meet/event, may miss one practice
the week of the competition/event, but not the last practice
before the meet/event. If this rule is broken, they will not
be able to compete/perform in the meet/event. If fees have
already been paid for a meet and we are unable to get a refund,
the parents will be required to cover the cost.
Absenteeism
If your gymnast will be absent from practice, please call
or email before practice starts. The coaches appreciate knowing
in advance, so they can properly prepare for each practice.
You do not receive credit for missed practices. We do encourage
the gymnasts to be involved in different activities. We do
understand that this sometimes means that they are going to
miss a practice here or there. We encourage parents and gymnasts
to try to work out a schedule where they can do both activities,
but in the event that they cannot, we do understand and will
work with you the best we can to keep the gymnasts in our
great sport.
Cleaning Scholarships
We do offer a scholarship program at Three Rivers Gymnastics.
Through this program, you can come in once a week per child
and help clean around the gym. You sign up with Patty and
will be assigned a certain area and day to clean. For every
hour of cleaning, you receive $10 towards your gymnast’s
monthly fees or for every half hour $5 towards your gymnast’s
monthly fees. If you have any questions or are interested,
please talk to Patty to get set-up.
Testing
The team program is based on the USAG program. Levels 1-4
take tests to move up from one level to the next. We test
them at the end of September and about every three months
throughout the rest of the season (Sept – May). During
the summer, we do not test. Once they reach Level 5, they
have to compete in meets and reach a certain score to move
up to the next level.
Coaches
Three Rivers Gymnastics’ Coaches are all trained in
coaching and spotting techniques. They are all qualified to
be coaching your gymnast. They have watched videos and have
worked with Patty or other coaches in hands on training. If
you have any questions on a coaches qualifications, grab them
after practice and get to know them and their personal coaching
philosophy.
Concessions
Every year, we ask for donations for concessions. We do Basketball
concessions around the area for gym fundraisers, as well as
concessions at our home events (meets and spring show). Donations
can be made by the following:
____- volunteering your time
to help man the concessions
____- buying beverages, fruits, snacks, etc to sell
____- making bars, cookies, etc to sell
____- making a cash donation
We really appreciate and depend on all of the above to help
the gym do well at our concession events. If you have any
questions, ask Patty or Cindy Thompson.
Physical Exams
Three Rivers Gymnastics does not require a physical exam to
be in our program, but we do recommend that you contact your
physician to ensure that there is nothing that might prevent
you from participating in gymnastics. The ND High School Activities
Association does require that all High School gymnasts have
a physical on record to participate in practice and meets.
Communicable Diseases
In accordance with the regulations of the local board of health,
any child having any contagious or infectious disease shall
be sent home from practice and shall not be readmitted without
a physician's written statement that the child is free form
contagion. If your child had a contagious or infectious disease
at home. Please notify the coach so others can be notified
if necessary. This includes lice. If you are unsure if we
need to be contacted or not, check with you physician or to
be safe, just let us know.
Emergency Procedures, Accidents and
Injuries
The nature of the sport of gymnastics is such that injuries
can and will occur from time to time. It is the policy of
Three Rivers Gymnastics to treat all such injuries as potentially
serious. All injuries that occur in the gym or during any
event or activity sanctioned by Three Rivers Gymnastics are
to be reported to the head coach responsible for the injured
gymnast. There are three categories of injuries: life threatening,
serious and minor. The required method of handling each is
as follows:
Life Threatening Injuries:
if, in the opinion of the responsible coach, the injury is
life threatening, the coach will immediately call 911, followed
by a call to the gymnast's parents or guardians. The coach
will stay with the injured gymnast until the paramedics arrive,
and their treatment of the gymnast is completed. The injury
will then be written up as indicated below. In the case of
a life threatening injury, the board president should be notified
as soon as possible.
Serious Injuries: Serious
injuries are injuries which are not life threatening, but
which may require medical attention. If, in the opinion of
the responsible coach and the gymnast, medical attention is
required; the gymnast should not continue gymnastics during
that practice. The gymnast will be removed from activity for
that practice and the parent or guardian notified. The gymnast
will be advised to seek medical attention as necessary. The
injury will be written up as indicated below.
Minor Injuries: These are injuries,
which in the normal course of events will not hamper the gymnast's
ability to continue prior activities. They should be recognized
and recorded as follows in the event that the seriousness
of the injury is misunderstood, or complications develop.
Recording Injuries: An Accident/Injury
report must be filled out for all accident's and injuries.
Once that report has been filled out, please put it in Patty's
box in the coaches' room. Failure on the part of the coach
to treat, report or record injuries may be grounds for dismissal. |
